Hi
When I was about to shave my armpits last week I thought I could feel a lump in the centre of my pit. I thought it might have been fatty tissue as it could only be felt when my arm was straight up.
Its just under the skin, soft, not painful.

Anyway I went to GP yesterday, she was very thorough but couldn't feel anything, she said all my lymph nodes were down and that there was nothing she could feel at all. No other symptoms whatsoever. Said our bodies aren't symmetrical and that if I'm still concerned to come back in a few weeks but she gave me a clean bill of health as she couldn't feel anything.

I've just checked again and I can still feel it, I'm very overweight though so wondering if its just a bit of flab?

Would you be reassured by GP? I was initially but starting to fret again. I'm 49. Mum had BC.

No I wouldn't be happy with that. I'd go back and request a 2 week referral to the breast clinic.
This actually happened to me a few months ago. They got me a referral straight away despite not being able to feel the lump as much as I could. I went to the breast clinic and they checked the lump and noticed some thickening that I'd never even considered a problem. They scanned and it was nothing but I wouldn't have been satisfied with the GP.

My mom has just been diagnosed with breast cancer because of a lump under her armpit, she's had a mammogram a 3d mammogram and a CT scan which have not found the cancer in her breast but the lump under her arm tested as cancer and that's the only way it was found.

We can get lumps for other, harmless reasons, but given that you can still feel it, and your family history, you need to request a follow up.
