HPV virus and odd coloscopy. Should I be worried

I am a bit confused about a test I just had.
I have had HPV virus for a while apparently but no abnormal smears.
Because of the HPV I was sent for a coloscopy (I today but it was a bit odd. The consultant said there was nothing to worry about as there were no abnormal cells that he could see but he also said that my cervix was unusually small and he couldn't see inside to thoroughly check.
(This explains why both my kids had to be delivered by C section I suppose)
What I'm worried about is - how does he know there are no abnormal.cells if he didn't actually check inside my cervix? I feel fobbed off but I was told another smear in 12 months is sufficient and to contact my GP if I have any symptoms.
Am I worried about nothing? Is this OK?

When you have a colposcopy they put a vinegar solution on and any abnormal cells turn white. You mustn't have had any colour changes. You can relax xx
