Spotting/period gynae issue

Will try and keep this short!

I have posted before about this issue while back…but I’m just worried.

2020 started spotting a year after I had a baby. I was referred for US scan and it was fine.

it continued so I was referred to gynae.

gynae weren’t interested as I had a negative smear a year before.

took the pill- made it so much worse.

stopped pill after 7 months of daily bleeding.

I went to a private gynae. No tests or anything, just a visual examination. he agreed with NHS gynae- hormonal- take a pill.

have seen a gynae for a follow up a few months ago but again she was not concerned.

the bleeding returned to normal for the last 3 months I have had very regular periods with no spotting- I figured the pill had reset my hormones maybe?

I had my regular smear two weeks ago… came back really quick to say it’s HPV negative so I was reassured.

period was due a few days after the smear. It didn’t come this time. I have been spotting for the last 4 days, until last night- me and my husband did some stuff (not sex, as in nothing inside me!) and I woke up this morning bleeding heavy ish like a period.

is this my period? Why has that “brought it on”?

im worried but cos I had a transvaginal ultrasound that was clear 2 years ago they say all is ok.

im on the list for a hysteroscopy camera thing under GA but it’s a very long wait (already waited 5 month) and the last gynae I seen said they aren’t even worried they’re only doing it cos I’m worried.

any one been through similar? Xx

Hello @Mrsworried1. Just wondering if you got to the bottom of this?

Mrsworried1 · 25/02/2024 09:46

Hi @Lollyl88 no I haven’t. I did go for the hysteroscopy in the end and nothing was found. They put a coil in at the same time. I’ve had that 13 months now and no improvement, I think it’s now worse actually. I go back to gynae in a few months and they’re going to give me a date to get an ablation. Xx

@Mrsworried1 thanks for replying. I'm experiencing very very similar. Have they mentioned it's hormonal to you? All testing I've had is clear (not had hysteroscopy) and have booked to see a gynae privately. I'm getting spotting either side of my period when I go to the toilet. Transvag scan showed a bit of adenomyosis and they're saying it could be that but spotting doesn't seem to be a symptom of that according to reading I've done. So GP doesn't really know what to do. I'm hoping it's hormonal but it doesn't stop me worrying even though scans are clear! Nobody has suggesting it's hormonal and I'm wondering if it's perimenopause (but I'm only 37 and this hasn't been suggested to me!

All started about a year after my second child so I'm also figuring it could be stress?! Who knows! I hope you're doing ok. Smile

@Lollyl88 yes they’ve put it down to hormones but I was 31 when all this started, I’m 35 this year and can’t believe I’ve put up with this rubbish this long. Mine started a year after my daughter was born I wondered if mine was stress/bad diet/weight gain in lockdown xx
