Worrying silly over nothing possibly?

Hey girls, 28f here. Will try to be brief.

Over a year ago started to experience abnormal discharge and had symptoms of thrush for the first time. Tried Canestan (little relief) and doctor prescribed antibiotics (relief) but symptoms kept coming back regularly. Felt so embarrassed and dreaded séx - séx so painful.

Went to GP last month - he performed examination - nothing - thought I might have a mental block because of my embarrassment about symptoms and prescribed me lúbe to try. Didn’t help (I try to relax during séx and think I do?). GP also referred me for a transvaginal ultrasound and regular ultrasound.

GP contacted me to say small polyp on uterus and asked if anyone prior had mentioned PCOS to me - they hadn’t. GP said PCOS likely. Got bloods done to confirm but these came back to say I don’t have it.

GP surgery got it contact for me to go in for sWabs. Would these be to rule out cancer? Am I jumping to the most sinister? Has anyone experienced similar?

Please stop worrying, swabs are to rule out infection, not cancer.

Scans and biopsies rule out cancer and nobody has mentioned cancer to you, it has a very different set of symptoms to PCOS.
Honestly from what you have written it does not sound sinister whatsoever.

How old are you? I’m asking because it could be vaginal atrophy linked to menopause- if you’re 40 ish onwards this is likely. The dryness associated with it can make thrush more likely. This is how my menopausal issues started aged 37 (I was early due to autoimmune issues). You may need Ovestin internal oestrogen cream (which you use externally and internally) and HRT (oestrogel and utrogestan possibly). It’s obviously a good idea to rule everything else out but I’m wondering if it’s this. (By the way if you do have dryness and thrush the canestan pessaries won’t work properly as they won’t dissolve well, you’ll need the internal pre filled applicator and / or Fluconazole capsules - you can buy the 150mg one over the counter). Lube probably won’t do you any good.
