Breast feeding and weight loss

Anyone lost a lot of weight from breast feeding? I've always struggled to shed the pounds until this year I've lost so much weight, I have some other investigations going on but I'm wondering if it's just breast feeding.
My baby is 1 years old now and I'm still losing weight.
I was 84kg pre pregnancy , 100kg towards the end and now weight 71kg. Eek . I'm worried , mainly because so much of my muscle seems to have gone.

Hey, this was me also. The weight melted off at an alarming rate. I thought it could
be something more serious (although never bothered to get checked). The weight loss slowed and stopped as baby got close to one year old. Provided it’s not something more serious and you feel ok otherwise, congrats and enjoy!

Yes, loads...I went down to a size 8 from a 14 feeding my eldest and a size 6 from a 10 feeding my second. Strangely I didn't lose as much feeding my twins even though you burn twice the calories but I think that's because I was older. I did put some weight back on again each time I stopped feeding. Back to about a 10/12 each time.
Sorry, measuring in sizes because I rarely weigh myself lol 😂

No, this didn't happen for me. I've lost weight since I stopped. I would say make sure you've either got a great diet or take supplements. After 2 years BF, I had folate and vitamin B deficiencies and just had no energy. A couple of months of supplements and no BF and I feel a lot better.

Well this is what I'm worried about that it's something serious but I've had bloods ans stool tests etc and all normal. Next is an ultra sound scan. Hopefully it's just weight loss from breast feeding xxxx

It's actually really useful to compare in dress sizes because can tell that's a lot of weight. I was 12/14 before and now 12 is getting loose but still fits because I'm tall xxx

Yes. It made me thin, pale and weak. Stopped after 8 months and it was like I had been turbo charged 😂 I looked and felt so much better.

Maybe I need to think about stopping. Not that easy though x

Yep, with my 2nd child I went down to a size 8 from 12-14. I was 25 at the time and hadn't been below a 12 since I was at school 😂

It didn't last once I stopped feeding though!

Newlifestartingatlast · 05/01/2023 20:59

Bloody hell.you lucky lucky people. Breastfed exclusively for 6 months for both of mine. Shed about 6 lbs. Never did loose baby weight 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Samanabanana · 05/01/2023 21:00

I breastfed DC2 for a year and didn't so much as lose a pound Blush

wildmoon · 05/01/2023 21:03

Yup! By 7 days after birth and I was TINY. It's levelled out since Xmas but yeah crazy weight loss

Emmamoo89 · 05/01/2023 21:08

Yes I lost weight quickly

Clevs · 05/01/2023 21:16

I lost quite a bit fairly quickly too. Put it all back on and more though 😔

lottie198 · 06/01/2023 10:59

Thanks All! Glad to know I'm not the only one. I'd be enjoying it if all my muscle hadn't disappeared with it. I've lost all my shape and my bum is as flat as a pancake. Going to try and exercise more to build some muscle back x

Yep same for me. Of course do ensure you keep your hydration up and stay active (which, with a 1 year old, is probably easy)

DreamingOfAGreenChristmas · 06/01/2023 11:06

I certainly started putting on weight when I stopped feeding!

You start to lose muscle tone within 4 days of not using muscle. Eat a good protein and good-fats diet and do what you can to build exercise. I do leg lifts while stirring risotto etc, and hand weights while watching TV.

Manicwithmoney · 06/01/2023 17:25

I haven't shed a pound! Lol wish this would happen for me
