Period 10 days late but not pregnant

I have always been very regular with my periods , my cycle is normally 28 days long and it normally lasts three to four days long.

my last period was 22nd of November and was just normal in flow and how long it lasted and up until November I have always had a period every month since Ive started having periods

i should of had a period in December on the 20th but it never came I’m now 10 days late which has never happened before unless I’ve been pregnant

for context I have three children I am 26 , 27 next year

I’ve only had sex once this month with my partner at the start of December , I’ve done some pregnancy tests but they were negative

I’ve also been to my gp a few days ago the doctor was nice but not very helpful she tested for pregnancy with a urine test but it was negative she then said wait a few months and if I still don’t start my period to come back

whats going on? I’ve never experienced anything like this and am unsure why my period hasn’t come , help

Hey, appreciate you posted this a while ago, but did you ever find out what caused your period to be late and did it arrive? I’m currently having the exact same thing, am 8 days late with a negative test

I would also like to know. I'm almost two weeks late! 37 and defo not pregnant. I think it's stress (I don't have a stressful life but I definitely stress myself out) I also started exercising a lot more this year. But I'm thinking it could even be perimenopause...

@Firefly1987 Yeah I'm inclined to think stress and/or peri menopause. When I mentioned it to nurse practitioner today she said 'you're too young for menopause'. Couldn't be bothered explaining about peri...

@HVPRN haha know what you mean. I was talking to my mum about it and she'd never even heard of it (she's not a nurse though!) I do feel too young but my nan went through menopause in her late 30s and I seem to take after her rather than my mum. I'm just so sick of waiting for my period I've been irritable for over two weeks but I don't really get cramps nowadays so there's no way to know if it's coming anytime soon...it's stressing me out even more.

@Firefly1987 Morning! I know what you mean about being irritable, trying to be self aware not to be though. Feel like I need a good clear out to return to set point 😅
I'll give it another week, if no sign of anything, I'll go to docs and see if they can check bloods/hormones. Are you 2 weeks late then?

@HVPRN yep two weeks today-was meant to start Sat 1st! Feel like I'm stressing myself out over it because I'm worried my anxiety has been so out of control to cause this. Vicious cycle worrying and delaying it even more probably. I got bloods done a few months ago and they were all fine except I'm borderline hypothyroid so it could be that I guess. I need to go on meds for it at some point. Hope we both get our periods soon so we can go back to normal not living in limbo like this😆

My period FINALLY arrived earlier today, 2 weeks and one day late. Hope no one else has to wait this long! A very stressful time but feel much calmer now I'm no longer waiting and wondering.

@Firefly1987 I too came on my period yesterday - 12 days late (for future readers wanting reassurance!) thank you for keeping me sane and company while I wondered what was going on! Take care, and least we can now relax 😌✨

@HVPRN No worries! Thank you as well, it's been a very stressful time. Hopefully it was just a one-off for both of us. Or maybe a sign to take it a bit easier and not stress so much!
