Bleeding after sex

Turningamumagain · 28/12/2022 20:04

I've never experienced this before but I had sex with my partner last night and felt slight cramping after. We had sex again this morning and since every time I wipe after the toilet there is blood on the tissue. I'm 4 days until ovulation so no where near my period. I am 14 months postpartum and at my last smear the nurse did notice some slight erosion on my cervix. But that was not long after giving birth and I've not had bleeding until now. This is the first time it's happened.

I had this - got heavier and lasted longer each time. It was cervical ectropion in my case (and was dealt with really quickly - very happy with the service!). There are other possible causes of unexplained bleeding though so best to get checked out, although I personally probably wouldn't as a one off (maybe it's a weird cycle or the sex was a bit rough) but if it happened again I would - you know you best though, so if you feel it's not right then book an appointment now :)

Def get it checked. It could be the erosion but it's a sign of cervical cancer (it was my first sign).

Thank you. How many times did it happen with you before you got it checked? I know well it is a bit out of the ordinary for us to do it the morning after too lol so I am just putting it down to that at the min 🤞

A few months but we weren't having sex that often and I have erratic periods on the mini pill, so between those two things it was a while before the penny dropped. Once I realised it was after sex I got checked out asap.

I had this happen few times after a trip to the Drs and a referral for internal ultrasounds it turns out I have a complex cyst on my left ovary. Gynae says It's non cancerous and they're just monitoring it, I have another scan in the new year to check the growth.
I normally start light bleeding 2-3 days after sec and it's 'old blood' so I can only think it's coming from that??
No idea.

Ahh ok, this was more pink fresh blood the same day. If it does it again I'll definitely make an appointment to see the gp.

Hi, I am 7 months postpartum and this has been happening to me too! I had some swabs taken and they said it was cervical erosion, (doctor didn’t seem to concerned though) - I am now too scared to have sex again with my partner in case it happens again (it’s been nearly 2 months since we did anything)

Doctor did tell me it could also be my contraception, I’m on the mini pill so she wants me to give it a few months and maybe change contraception and see if that helps! Hopefully you get checked out - mostly to put your mind at ease

Ah yes, the consultant said the mini pill can cause it as well - lining builds up and then sex causes it to shed. Coil was the solution offered if that was the cause.

I had this a few months postpartum and it was a polyp which the gynaecologist snipped off while I was there. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s something serious but definitely get it check out.

I'm not on any contraception and my periods are usually really regular I've got a tracker. I've been really poorly this last week and a half taking decongestants, paracetamol and ibuprofen every day. I'm wondering if it could be something to do with that as I'm still bleeding a tiny bit and it was yesterday morning we had sex so it seems a long time after now. I'm still getting slight cramps too.
