(Have name changed as didn't want to be linked to other posts )

I had my yearly mammogram at the beginning of December - have had for last 6/7 years or so due to family history, although I'm now just past 50 so qualify on that route.

Anyhow I had a phone call earlier in week to say I need to go back for an ultrasound and appt was offered.

At the time of the call I was in midst of supermarket with my mind on a 101 things (you know how it is) and I just accepted the appt.

I think also at the time I just in my head though if it as being recalled for another mammogram (a if images on original weren't taken well etc) . However she definitely said Ultrasound , not mammogram.

So anyone with any experience of them why is it likely I need one and also what should I expect ?

Thank you (purposely not googling) and trying not to think about it .

Hi
They may have seen something that needs further investigation. It could be a cyst it could be cancer. Until you have the ultrasound (& possible biopsy) you won't know for sure.

Please remember that most things they see are NOT cancer.

It's hard not to worry - massive hugs!

Thank you for taking the time to reply - I have been purposely putting it to the back of my mind and not looking on internet. I will find out soon enough .

I was called back after my first mammogram and had an ultrasound because there was a shadow on the first mammogram. All was fine - it was just a shadow apparently. I’ve since had another routine mammogram which was all clear.

I had a biopsy and they told me there and then it was cancer - they were 99% sure! So, the fact that you haven't been told that is a good sign.

I waited for the results and it was then confirmed it was cancer.

Please let us know how you get on and remember most lumps aren't cancer!

Hi OP. I've just had a biopsy and have a 3 week wait for the results. It's so worrying having to wait so long!
