Still having hair loss …it hasn’t got worse but it’s been 12 weeks.

The TSH level looks like it has gone down but is it the lower sign of normal range?
I’m still on 100 mg of Levo.

Just looking for advice as doctor said to wait it out another 12 weeks. Also asked if she could do T3 and T4 tests but said she didn’t need to because of the TSH levels (whatever that means?)

** I take high dose vitamin d, effervescent vitamin C, biotin, just ordered some collagen hoping it will thicken my hair. And I also take these at night nowhere near my levothyroxine in the morning 👍🏻

Your TSH does say it’s in the normal range.
Have you also had ferritin checked? Labs often mark it normal when it’s lower end of the ‘normal’ range but ferritin needs to be above 70 to support hair growth.
Low B12 can also cause thinning hair.

TSH is a pituitary hormone, not a thyroid one so without FT4 and FT3 you haven’t got a full picture of what’s going on. Adequately treated on Levothyroxine you should have a TSH of around 1 and other two in the upper part of the reference range. I’d get private testing if I were you. Also get onto the Health Unlocked thyroid board, they are incredibly knowledgeable.

@RememberedForAllTheWrongReasons these were my results back in September for ferritin.
is that iron? Maybe I need a supplement to help it?? Any ideas?

How old are you ?

I take Floradix for iron, I also have an under active thyroid. I really feel the difference if I run out of Floradix, my hair is very thick.

I lost hair in my early 40’s that never grew back. The GP just hold me to take iron, no blood tests.

The reason I asked is because hair loss/thinning can be a peri menopause symptom. How old was your mum when she went through it ?

Emmalizzie831 · 01/12/2022 15:28

@KangarooKenny mid 40s I think
