Horrendously swollen labia minora

I've had very bad thrush the last 5 days or so, it feels like it's on its way out but the labia minora on my left has swelled up to twice its size and is extremely sore and painful. I've had to call in sick to work today as I can't walk and ibuprofen, piriton and paracetamol aren't touching it.

Any ideas for what I can do to bring the swelling down asap? I'm in agony and can barely move, not helped by the fact I'm pretty sure a burn on my hand is now infected 😢

Try cocodamol and oral meds for thrush

Is it potentially a B cyst ? Can you feel any lumps

Take under ware off and lay on bed on your back wirh feet on pillows

So much love

Oh my love I feel for you
Take cocodamol or ibuprofen with codeine and see if that helps take the edge off

Fill out an e consult and ask for codeine if the dose isn't strong enough otc

What about a numbing cream for hamerojds

You poor thing. I'd find a doctor as soon as you can manage it today.

MrsPnut · 29/11/2022 10:23

I'd try and get an appointment at the gp surgery and have a warm bath with salt added.

Valhalla17 · 29/11/2022 10:24

Warm bath or flannel, ibuprofen. Hope you can get in to see the GP...Flowers

ItsMeHiImTheProblem · 29/11/2022 10:36

Epsom salts warm baths, Canesten cream externally, and call your gp. Hope you get relief soon, I know how painful it is.

Well rang the doctors at 8am prompt and was told there are no face to face appointments... had a phone appointment and the doctor literally said 'so what do you want' and I asked for the long term course so that's what I got 🤷‍♀️ ideally I'd like it looked at and a blood test but that's not feasible these days! Gave me flashbacks to when I had it chronically in my early twenties and the number of disinterested GPs I saw who told me 'some women just get it lots' before I was taken seriously and helped by the sexual health clinic despite it not being sexual health related. I'd go again but will see how this course goes before having to down 4+ hours in a walk in clinic.

Thanks for all the advice ladies, have been lying with Greek yoghurt down there and it's brought down the swelling a bit so feeling a bit better

It is part of GP trg to seek patient expectations and ask them what they want. Perhaps better ways of asking!

How old are you? Could be a perimenopausal symptom. Which could be helped by vaginal estrogen and/or HRT.

True but when I suggested a blood test to rule out diabetes etc I was cut off and told not necessary. He's only got my word for it that it's even thrush, it might not be. That's why a face to face would be far more useful than a self diagnosed phone appointment.

I hope it's not peri menopause, I'm only 30. But again that's why I wanted a blood test

I had this, in my case it was a blocked duct. My labia minora swelled up, I was advised to take sitz baths , not to wear jeans or tight s and to change into clothing at home to air the area- vagisil helped ease my discomfort- definitely see your dr or nurse practitioner if you can, you may need antibiotics.

bobisbored · 08/12/2022 21:06

I second sitz baths, they're awesome. Ice pack help me and lying down letting the air get to it!! Thrush tablets too. I had a bad episode a few months ago and it took 3 tablets to clear it.
