Nausea during period - what helps?

I've recently started feeling extremely nauseous and dizzy during the first couple of days of my period - alongside the usual painful cramps and aching. I'm very lucky that I can work from home, because it absolutely floors me and I don't think I would actually be able to do anything productive out of the house on the first couple of days of my cycle anymore.

Does anyone have any tips for things that help? Strong painkillers make me feel really spaced out so I try not to take too many, and sugar makes me feel really shaky - although I do usually end up scoffing loads of chocolate.
