I'm 44 and think I'm peri but not confirmed by the Dr as peri

I think you're right and it's peri

I had a 3-day "period" less than 3 weeks after the last one and then a week later started with spotting every day, which has been ongoing for a week now... It's a total nuisance

I am the same age as you and have just had two periods with the 2nd starting two weeks after the first started (so I had 8 days between the first ending and the next one starting). I also suffered from PMDD symptoms for the full 8 days between P1 and P2.

I have been having peri symptoms for a couple of years but this was the first change to my bleeding cycle.

thanks for the replies. How are we meant to know what is peri-related and what is something more sinister/worrying ?

also, my last period was the first time my flow changed in terms of the flow pattern during the period.

Over the course of this year I've been having low mood, unable to sleep, not feeling myself in general, everything is overwhelming, nothing pleases me, don't want to see anyone - which is all very unlike me

I think by considering this within the context of other peri symptoms. If you are experiencing other typical symptoms, it's 'probably' peri-related (disclaimer: I'm a statistician, not a Doctor!). If not, then it's maybe an indicator of something more sinister.

If you are at all worried though, consult your GP (assuming you can get an appointment, but that's another thread entirely!).

So, this has developed into a full blown period. But no cramps what so ever (I usually only get cramps if it's a heavy one and this what I would call a standard period - in terms of flow - for me). I raised it with my DR who has arranged to call me on 19 Dec.

Why has this arrived only 7 days after the last one ended ?

Should I be worried ?

I had similar on my last cycle which started 15 days after the previous.. annoying but Dr thinks it Peri..

Trees6 · 08/12/2022 20:40

It sounds like peri. It’s soooo annoying. I went on the mini pill which helped a lot.

cataline · 08/12/2022 20:44

I've had exactly the same this week.

Always completely regular with a 26-28 day cycle and yet this week, started bleeding 8 days after my last period stopped.

I had been feeling utterly dreadful for a few days prior- migraines and terrible IBS - which is usual before and during my period but I'm not sure how I'll cope if it's going to be twice a month!
