Zoladex and still bleeding? Anyone had this

Hi everyone

I have a very large fibroid which caused excessive bleeding about 8 weeks ago. I was given traxenemic acid and 30 mg Provera a day which stopped the bleeding. A week later I was given a one month Zoladex injection.

Every time I cut down the Provera I would start to bleed again, so I stayed on it and gradually reduced ( still had a small amount of bleeding every time I got to 10 mg a day).

I had my second Zoladex last Tuesday. I stopped the Provera completely and had a few days where I spotted. Then nothing. Last 3 days ( when my period would have been) I have had very light bleeding again ( it is very light so far - have only needed a pad a day and it’s more like spotting but slightly heavier).

It’s worrying me a bit as Id understood that after 2nd Zoladex I shouldn’t bleed at all. I guess I’m particularly worried as there was concern as my fibroid had grown very quickly it might be cancerous - although my MRI didn’t show suspicious and conclusion from that was it wasn’t. One of the things my consultant said to show he didn’t think it was cancer was that I wouldn’t have stopped bleeding if it was - so it’s now playing on my mind I guess. I have anxiety and know I’m being a bit silly probably.

Has anyone else been on Zoladex and still bled in the 2nd month?

Hi OP, yes. I’m on Prostap (same thing as Zoladex) and norethisterone (I think the same as provera?) and I can’t get off the norethisterone because every time I try even reducing I get the horrendous bleeding that put me in hospital in the first place and they put me back on it. I’m five months in on both and still bleed a bit most days. Docs will tell you “most” women don’t bleed on Prostap/Zoladex but I’ve met few ladies on here it worked for. Sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear! If you’re down to just Zoladex and only bleeding a little, I’d take that as a win. They say it should stop altogether over time. x

Thanks for replying @Lula74 . I’m luckily having my op next week so can manage - it was just worrying me a bit as everything seems to indicate you stop bleeding completely!

I haven’t had any of the menopause side effects either test which is a bit odd!

I think I’ve also become quite scared of bleeding ( which given my consultant has recommended a myomectomy not hysterectomy I guess I better get over!).

@Ridingladybugs oh I totally get you - I’m terrified of it all now, having bled so badly so many times. I’m waiting for a hysterectomy but don’t have a date yet. Good luck next week! (I think we’re having this convo on another thread too 🤣🥰)
