Your lady cycle

Recent stopped taking the combined pill at 31 (taken since 19 on and off but mostly on)

I never used to track my cycle.. being 19 I planned for nothing and dealt with it when it popped up!

Now I'm 31 I've started using flo. Stopped taking 14th September and had first period 18th October which meant this one was due 15th November (if 28 days).

I've come on this morning. Totally unexpected, sitting having a chilled cuppa (sorry I know some hate this term) in bed and got up for the loo and .. yeah, white bedding, usual womanly inconvenience (bed stripped all is good etc).

My question though is, how many of you have a 25 cycle? Is this a sign of me aging (i know im young don't panic) or is it possible I was always a 25 day cycle?

I've read that it could reduce my fertility chances but also read it's normal to range from 21-35 days.

I suppose it could be as my body is still conditioning after so long on the pill? Im also aware it's good my body is still doing it's thing as it should (I'd have been more worried if the periods didn't come back).

Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar position.

Should have added I have no kids so not sure on my fertility situation.

Not an expert but id imagine you d need to go through at least 6 months of cycles to see what exactly your 'normal' is now

I think this too. Just wasn't sure how common 25 day cycles were until I had a read up x

Can take a few months for your cycle to go back to normal

readingismycardio · 12/11/2022 13:19

Just wait for a while. My cycles took 1 year to go back to normal after the pill. Mine were late. First 2-3 periods were painful, too.

passthechoc · 12/11/2022 13:22

Mine has always ranged between 24 and 28 days since I came off the pill. Before I went on the pill it was like clockwork. But either way it didn't cause me any fertility issues. Hopefully you'll settle into a pattern. I always now expect mine early and then at least I am prepared!

You can use proper words like menstrual cycle or period. You don’t need to be twee with lady cycle and womanly bleeding. We are all grown ups.

Madeupname345 · 12/11/2022 13:30

I have short cycles and got pregnant quickly both times.

DeanStockwooooo · 12/11/2022 13:33

I opened this thread expecting it to be about ladies bicycles I wonder why

If we're all grown ups don't let it bother you

Haha I did put menstrual cycle first and changed it. I do apologise! I don't have a bicycle

It's probably pretty normal then. It's only three days I'm probably overthinking

Yes I won't let it catch me out again. It could be normal for me and it may not be, like some other PP said, could take time. Good to know you have normal fertility though

I did think lady cycle was quite funny 🤣

amiold · 12/11/2022 13:50

@TropicalTenticle yeah I don't think I was really thinking haha. I've caused a stir, I'm even being mentioned on other threads where people are talking about "sitting on their hands" so they don't common.

I'm 25 day cycle, very regular.

jamontoastaddict · 12/11/2022 13:52

I wouldn't think this first cycle really means anything. I might take 1-2 cycles to settle.

But anything 21-35 days is considered regular. The cycle is divided into four part menstruation, follicular, ovulation and luteal. The luteal phase is the days after ovulation and should be 14 days long. If it's shorter than 10 it can be a problem.

So in a 28 day cycle that would be ovulating on day 14. If you ovulate on day 19 it might be a problem.

In a 25 day cycle ideal ovulating on day 11. And so in.

The problem is standard fertility test really on day 21 bloods and day 2 bloods which isn't helpful. And most fertility clinics will say it won't be a problem. I think the long irregular cycles can be difficult to pin point ovulation. Using natural cycles rather than flo is better for understanding your fertility if that's what you want to do.

If you want children I'd have fertility MOT day 3 and day 21 bloods and an AMH (ovarian reserve) test but bear in mind the above caveat. I'd also try the wearable temperature sensor such as Ava fertility but the new Apple Watch does the same thing.

I will look at the natural cycles and Ava fertility.

At the moment I'm just wanting to understand my cycle better and understand if there's any issues.

You sound very knowledgable so I appreciate the reply x

Yes I'd give it few months to settle and then try and pinpoint when you ovulate fire a few months of temping.

dizzydizzydizzy · 12/11/2022 15:08

Mine was about 23-25 days when I wasn't on the pill. Probably got more like 23 as I got older. The Mirena coil sorted all that out for me .
