Late period after a smear, normal?

Usually periods are clockwork 28 days. I'm currently 8 days late which is really bothering me. I had a smear a few weeks ago, can this delay periods? I'm not pregnant, DH has had the snip. Maybe peri menopausal, I'm early 40s.

Should probably take a pregnancy test to rule it out even if your DH has had the snip.
