Mirena concerns

Hey all. I had my mirena in for Little over a year and had a bacterial resistant uti for 6 months that put me in the hospital with a kidney infection, needing iv antibiotic. I had the darn thing removed about 3.5 months ago. Luckily after they removed that mirena my uti/kidney infection cleared up and hasn’t returned but I’ve had a slew of other health issues.

two periods/month
very heavy and clotty
inconsistent periods
very smelly periods…ok this is my main concern…my periods before mirena were normal. No smell at all however I recently discovered last night that my menses have an odor. It’s very similar to the smell you have about a week after you give birth and the lochia that comes out…it smelled horrible last night when my SO and I were having intercourse. I was mortified. When im not on my period everything down there is normal with no smell but my periods after having mirena removed have been disgusting. Just curious if Anyone had had any horrible issues similar to mine After mirena removal or if you Know anyone in this situation. I can’t find anything online, the mirena name is highly protected. Maybe it’s just my hormones still jacked up? SOS!!!

Sounds like bacterial vaginosis. I’d ring GP and ask for swabs for pelvic infection also.
BV possibly due to mirena - if it was in - but more likely due to the previous antibiotics now it is out. But you can get it for no good reason also.

I was hoping it wasn’t that but I’ve had bv before and yes the smell was the same but typically it smelled bad all the time not just during menses. It’s really weird. Pretty sure the mirena has messed me up for good. Maybe the hormone imbalance after having it removed has caused a mild bv infection? I just don’t have any other issues or smells when im
not bleeding. Thank you for your response 💕
