A couple of weeks ago I spent three nights in hospital for mastitis (on IV antibiotics). I was discharged and given a week of oral antibiotics. By the end of that, I felt much better, no redness or swelling in breast. But then on Friday morning the redness came back along with shooting sharp pain. I saw GP quickly and was given a second course of different antibiotics. On Fri and Sat I felt fluey and had chills, but no temp, but have felt much better in myself since last night (Sat). However what is concerning me most now is that I have a fibroadenoma on the same side that was diagnosed before all this as a harmless breast lump. During my first mastitis/hospital stay it was unaffected. It is now extremely tender/sore and it has increased in size. I am worried it has become a breast abscess, but the redness has really calmed down and I feel more well in myself which would suggest antibiotics are working apart from the pain and the size of the lump. Does anyone have any experience of an abscess, or of having a fibroadenoma at the same time as mastitis? Could it just be inflamed? I'm due to speak to GP first thing tomorrow but I don't know if I should be seeking help today given how sore it is. Feeling very sorry for myself.
