Has anyones smear test result ever came back as SEVERE dyskarysis? Last year my cells were just changing, now this! Got the results today and they want me back next week. Should I be worried?

My smear came back with high grade changes a few months ago. I had a LLETZ procedure a couple of weeks later - not exactly fun, but nothing horrendous. They have removed all of the affected cells and want me to go back for a check up smear in 6 months.

Please try not to panic - I worked myself up into a right state about it, and it turned out I had no reason to. Smears are all about catching any problems before they develop into something worse.

Hi,

I'm sorry you had to go through that. What do they do exactly? Any after effects from the treatment? I don't feel too worried because it's been monitored, it's just with them changing quite quickly from borderline to severe! Are you all ok now?

I'm fine now (at least that's what the specialist said) but I do need to go back in 6 months to check how it's all gone.

For the LLETZ they gave me a local anaesthetic and then lasered out the abnormal cells - sounds worse than it was. I had quite a lot of discharge for about 4 weeks afterwards, which definitely required pads for the first couple of weeks. No sex, tampons or swimming for a few weeks after to ensure no infections afterwards. All absolutely fine now.

Ooo glad to hear you're ok now! Hope alls well when you go back, which I'm sure it will be. Doesn't sound too bad, I'll just have to grin and bare it. We are lucky we have smear tests for early detection! X
