Bleeding but not a period?

so I have pcos and irregular cycles. They can range from a normal 31 days to up to 3 months long. This isn’t an issue for me as I ALWAYS ovulate and track ovulation so I know as soon as I ovulate my period will come 11-12 days later. This has never been wrong in years and since having my kids.

I was sure I ovulated over 2 weeks ago but my period didn’t come. I also had another day of fertile cm a few days before I expected my period to come so I thought maybe I ovulated late on that day instead. Very bad timing but I did have unprotected sex a few days before the second fertile cm.

If I had ovulated on that second lot of fertile cm my period should have been here now which it isn’t. The weird part is that I began spotting 7 days ago. This NEVER happens and the first day was a very very light pink tinge to my cm so I assumed my period would start the next day. Each day has come and passed and the blood hadnt progress not had it stopped. It continued a very light pink colour to my discharge, not enough to come out onto my pants and only slightly visible when wiping. I used a cotton bud to insert and check which showed I still had light pink discharge.

I thought potentially it could have been implantation bleeding as it began around 7/8 days after my last fertile cervical mucus. However I have taken 2 different pregnancy tests which have come back negative and I am now on day 7 and today the colour was a blood red not pink, slightly dripped out this morning after sleeping all night yet has not been enough to come out into my pants at all and only visible a little when I wipe?

fhis is Definitley not a period but if it was implantation bleeding I would have expected it to have only lasted a day or 1 not a week? I have had the most faintest odd twitch/cramp a few days ago and then this evening had a period like cramp which only lasted a few minutes and went. The blood hasn’t progressed and even if I had a heavy period like normal it wouldn’t last for 7 days.

im very confused what is going on and not quite sure what to do?

I have the injection now and no periods but when I did they were really heavy then very occasionally I'd have one exactly as you've described. Just because it's different to your usual doesn't mean it isn't your period necessarily

Spotting has various causes and it can also occur when there is a lack of progesterone hormone. This can be an additional problem with PCOS and it is also quite possible to have periods without ovulating.

It may be that you are not ovulating as regularly as you think. Methods like measuring basal body temperature and ovulation predictor kids can be very hit and miss when it comes to PCOS. CM is also a very poor predictor of ovulation.

Ovulation is not an exact science and it can occur earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. Blood tests would give you a far more accurate picture about ovulation than BBT or OPKs (particularly those as those measure LH. If LH levels are excessive the kit can give a misleading false positive result).

I used to see a fertility specialist years ago so I’m very familiar of tracking my cycles and ovulation. For the past 4 years I have always correctly tracked my ovulation, even though my cycles are completely irregular I’ve always pinpointed ovulation and my period always arrives 11/12 days after (my luteal phase).

ofcourse though a blood test is the most accurate way of knowing. I did consider maybe I didn’t ovulate the first time like I thought but even if I had ovulated on the 2nd time of fertile cm my period would have arrived by now.

today I am still bleeding but not like bright red blood and not enough to come out. I’ve had little amounts come out into my underwear but it’s just cervical mucus that is a brown colour. Definitley more than it has been but Definitley not a period.

I’ve still had some odd slight cramp feelings in my uterus (feels more like my cervix) and I have taken another pregnancy test today which was negative. I’m now worried I could have an infection?

im really not sure what’s going on and equally not sure how long I should leave it? It will be 8 days now and it hasn’t stopped and hasn’t progressed much either…

I have regular 29 day cycle but this month spotting red/brown discharge since 8dpo its now CD35 still spotting but no sign of AF. Did PT and negative. Sick with worry as ttc.
