So , I noticed this small pea sized lump just on the opening of my vagina ... I can feel it but not really see it . It's only very small , I googled and immediately bartholin glad came up and it's exactly what describes it . It's not really painful unless i squeeze it . I originally thought was a pimple so tired to squeeze jt lol . Any home remedies I can do to get it gone ?? And will it go ??? It's not infected nor does it really hurt that much .. 90% certain is it that

I struggled with this too…they are usually harmless but a massive inconvenience. I didn’t find any home remedies that worked, eventually when it got so big that it caused me troubles to walk or sit, I went to my GP and got referred to the hospital. There they tried to drain it twice, once with and once without catheter, but both times it came back immediately afterwards. Ended up having surgery and that solved the problem for good. If it ever resurfaced, I’d insist on surgery rather than just draining it because this just prolonged the problem.

Thighdentitycrisis · 22/10/2022 12:13

I had one too. I think it may have been diagnosed via Mumsnet!
I didn’t have a partner at the time, maybe because of that it didn’t factor big on my radar. One day I realised it was gone

Thighdentitycrisis · 22/10/2022 12:14

Havosern @Willow8383 ’s post I realise I was lucky

FictionalCharacter · 22/10/2022 12:26

I had one, went to the GP, can’t remember whether I had any antibiotics but it went away after a week or so. It was quite large and uncomfortable.

Anonymousgirlxoxox · 22/10/2022 12:29

@FictionalCharacter I hope mine goes it , I keep touching it 🤦‍♀️ , feel almost just like a pimple when you squeeze it you can feel the pressure behind .

If you look on sporners corner there are lots of posts about them!

fanontonight · 22/10/2022 15:55

I get them quite regular, usually only small as you describe but my last one was really big and painful, I don't usually go to the gp as they don't hurt they just go on their own but this time I did as I could hardly walk or sit down without being in pain. I got given anti biotics but on an evening I put a warm flannel on it and a hot water bottle over the flannel to keep it warm, (but this was only suggested as it was infected) They also suggested warm baths too. it did burst which really helped and it's not been back since. The gp did say if it returns I would need to go back and be referred for surgery to remove fully.

Anonymousgirlxoxox · 22/10/2022 19:33

@fanontonight mines really small , I'm sure its that , I have health anxiety currently on sertraline and been ok but this has triggered me now 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I'm sure it will be that, I've had loads of small ones before that have gone on their own. But see your gp if your concerned. The first one I had was also small but I was pregnant at the time so went to the gp they said what it was but didn't give me anything as not inflamed or anything. So after that when they were small I didn't go to gp, only this last one that was awful x

Anonymousgirlxoxox · 22/10/2022 19:56

@fanontonight

Okay thankyou ! I'm going to see if it will go away first on its own , it's not sore or anything tbh barely can notice ! Only if I squeeze really hard x

I had one two weeks ago....over a few days it got to the size of a large marble, and was agony. I bathed it in hot water and it burst - the relief was unbelievable. I took a course of antibiotics too.

onionringcheeseypuff · 22/10/2022 20:15

I had these about twice a year for
Two years, hot baths (just shallow 10 mins baths) or hot flannel on it and it will eventually drain or withdraw.

Last one (years ago now) was the most painful and I vowed I would see the gp next time but it didn't come back. Thankfully!

tumtitum · 22/10/2022 20:19

I had one about the size you describe and it stayed the same, not at all painful, for about ten years! Then twice in two years it got infected and swollen and that was agony... I had it drained once and the second time it popped with antibiotics 🤮 since the second time it hasn't really come back!
I would leave it alone if it's not causing you any trouble or pain personally

tumtitum · 22/10/2022 20:20

But I would say if it starts to increase in size see you GP asap and ask for antibiotics, it's amazing how quickly it can swell to the size of an egg 😱

DJSteves · 22/10/2022 20:24

I've had two. Both were surgically drained. The relief afterwards was amazing and I was back to work a few days later. The pain of the cysts was the worse pain I've ever had

grosgirl · 22/10/2022 20:48

Don’t pop it! I did that and ended up with an infection of the lymph nodes in my groin and on pretty hefty antibiotics.

MugginsOverEre · 22/10/2022 20:59

I had one the size of a golf ball. Hurt like a MFer too until it burst. Unfortunately I didn't go full sporner corner and squeeze the hell out of it like I wanted to so it healed up and is the size of a grape. It's been the size of a grape for almost 11 years now.
It's absolutely painless but does annoy me a bit simply because I know it's there. Maybe one day when we have decent access to GPs again I might enquire about having it drained properly.

ByTheGrace · 22/10/2022 21:02

I had one when I was pregnant, it burst in the bath (epic!), came back again, burst again and I've not had an issue since. This was 16yrs ago.

Anonymousgirlxoxox · 22/10/2022 22:07

Omg I couldn't imagine having it for years ! My anxiety would be through the roof , I think I'll go gp see what they say , I'd say it's smaller then a pea size or just about pea size , does anyone know how common these are ?? X

I had a Bartholin Cyst 40 years ago. Went to my GP who rang up the hospital there and then and I was booked in for surgery the next day. It was removed under general anaesthetic. The hole was packed daily by a district nurse in my home. It has never come back. It makes me angry to read how many of you are experiencing repeated cysts that re occur time and time again. Another example of the NHS going backwards.

To be fair, mine causes me absolutely no bother at all. It doesn't grow or change. It's not hard. It doesn't hurt and is not really visible from the outside. It's just a lump just inside the opening and my husband doesn't notice anything. The only thing that 'bothers' me about it is the sporner in me wanting to see it get lanced and drained Grin

Kindlethefourth · 22/10/2022 23:18

I had several approx once every six months a good few years ago. I often got a fever with them too. Hot bath, hot flannel and various degrees of squeezing success (urgh can still remember the smell of cyst 2). Antibiotics and one doctor who 'advised' me how to lance and pack it myself. No, I have no medical training whatsoever. Then they stopped. Have never come back.

Anonymousgirlxoxox · 23/10/2022 09:54

I'm surprised how many of you have had them ! Anyway , if I was to try and squeeze it it's in a difficult spot to squeezeHmm like I kinda have to open my flaps to get to it ?? 🤣🤣
