Anyone had a uterine ablation?

In April this year, after years of heavy periods caused by recurring uterine polyps and becoming very anaemic as a result, I hoped for a uterine ablation.
My friend had recommended this procedure as she had one a few years back and has not had a period since.
Since the procedure, I had 4 fairly heavy periods and was quite disappointed that it may have failed. I mentioned it to my gynaecologist during my follow up in July. He said he would see me again at the end of October and see what was happening then. The appointment is for end of the month.
Luckily, the last 2 periods came and were suddenly very light and lasted only 2-3 days - result!
However, a few days before the periods I had quite a bit of pelvic discomfort. This is new to me as, although I had years of very heavy periods, luckily I have never had pain.
My period is now due any day and I have a gnawing, deep pelvic discomfort.
I am worried I may get post ablation syndrome, the horror stories online are worrying and seems only a hysterectomy can rectify this.
I really don’t want a hysterectomy.
Obviously, I will discuss this with the consultant at my appointment end of the month.
Has anyone had this procedure? How did it go? Have you experienced any pain after and if so how do you manage it?

I’ve learned not to listen to others. People told me I’d never have a period with a Mirena coil. Unfortunately I’m one of those that still does, although it’s much lighter.

I had an ablation and it seems to have worked, but I am getting thrush for the first time in my life.

I hope the doctor can get to the bottom of things for you. Do let us know how it goes.

I had an ablation in aug 2020 and I have to say it was the best thing I’ve ever done and completely gave me my life back! I don’t have periods any more beyond a bit of spotting for a couple of hours but I do occasionally get really bad period pains which I also never really had before so maybe it’s just one of those things?

I agree, best thing I ever had done. Can’t say I noticed any side effects, either.
