Should I go private?

I’ve had terrible periods and finally managed to see a gynaecologist who found a large fibroid that needs removing. This was on the NHS and although it took time to get the appointment, he was so kind and reassuring and the nurses were lovely and caring. I’ve been told it could be 3 months before I get a date for the operation.
I’ve recently got private health insurance through work so I could go down that route but I assume I would need to go back a step and have the internal exam again with a private consultant.
I can’t decide whether it’s worth going private or if I should just stay with the NHS.
What would you do?

Definitely go private via your health insurance.

You will be paying a huge amount of tax on the premiums as it is classed as a work benefit so it is not exactly free. Also, the NHS is a mess at present.

I had lots of gynae ops via my work private insurance when I was much younger and they were all great experiences.

I used my work health insurance for this exact scenario. By the time my NHS scan date arrived I had completed the entire procedure and post op follow up privately. Very positive experience.

I only use private. You have the insurance, use it.
