Weight loss , no obvious reasons

Well that’s it and I guess it’s a nice thing to happen but why?!

I’m 53 and over the last year have lost 1.5 stone with no effort. I’ve had tests for thyroid, bowl issues, coeliac- you name it, I’ve had it.

just curious as to how on earth it’s happened 🫤

It’s not normal, has your GP said there’s no more tests to run? It’s usually the sign of a health condition

Weirdandmaybe · 08/10/2022 22:20

@DSGR they've said no other tests to be done but still no idea why it’s happened. I love my new weight but still concerned as to why it’s happpened. It has stabilised now though.

Please push with your GP, OP.

I don't want to scare you, but when this happened to my Mum it was because she had lung cancer. It typically has a very low survivability rate, because by the time you have symptoms it has spread. But because she made a fuss about her lack of appetite, it was caught early and (fingers crossed), she's now cancer free

you say your weight has stabilised, and hopefully all is well, but I still think you should ask for a second opinion.

B12 deficiency can cause weight loss.
I lost 3 stone over 3 months before being diagnosed with pernicious anaemia.

@BernardBlacksWineIcelolIy so sorry to hear about your mum 😢
I still have just the same appetite as before, no other symptoms which might indicate anything serious. My gp isn’t concerned and it has stabilised - not lost any more for a few months now.

Pity you can’t bottle it whatever it was -you’d have made a fortune 🤣
