Light bleeding/spotting mid cycle

Came off the pill April 2022 and cycles have been regular.

I’m on CD18, not expecting a period for just under a week, but on Wednesday there was some pink when I wiped. Little bit of bright red each time I wiped yesterday but nothing worth using a tampon for. Same today.

We’ve been loosely TTC but I say very loosely as I am 41, overweight and have had previous surgeries. I’m ok if it doesn’t happen but I’m not ready to be menopausal yet either! We also don’t try very often with work and things going on!

So any ideas, what’s going on? It’s been a stressful month and I had my flu jab last weekend. I’ve had a smear test in the past year and it was fine. Dr Google just keeps talking about implantation bleeding and I’m pretty sure it can’t be that!

I would wait until closer to your period then take a pregnancy test OP. It does sound like implantation bleeding.

Well that would certainly be interesting!

It seemed to have stopped when I got up this morning but the bright red wipe is back again now. I’m most annoyed because I don’t know whether to log it as period or spotting in my Flo app - don’t want to mess it all up!

Can be a symptom of low progesterone which dips continually after the mid thirties.
Progesterone is the hormone which stabilises the endometrium, if its low in comparison to oestrogen which it can be even before perimenopause then spotting can happen predominantly in the second half of your cycle.

The same happened to me, I'm thirty nine and had clear smears and a normal ultrasound.

I have started supplementing with bio identical progesterone cream and being mindful to lower my stress levels as much as I can.
Your body struggles to make adequate progesterone when it's making the stress hormone, cortisol.

No reason you can't conceive with this issue but you may need to supplement your progesterone so I would have a chat with your GP. Good luck.
