Hi all.
Just had my smear test results back and its telling me:
HPV Primary - yes
Grade 2
High risk hpv detected.

So i understand I have high risk hpv but does anyone know what the grade 2 means at all?

The grade 2 refers to abnormal cells found in your cervix. THIS ISN’T CANCER. Sorry for shouting, but that’s really important. As the changes are grade 2, you’ll probably have to have the cells removed so your GP should be in touch. I hope this helps ❤️

Thanks so much I was worrying a bit I must admit but that's a bit more reassuring!

I've had exactly the same OP, HPV with CIN2 cell changes and whilst it's not the most pleasant thing to deal with it isn't that bad either and as Jennie has said it absolutely is NOT cancer.

Grade 2 dysplasia are cell changes that could possibly end up becoming cancerous down the line (not necessarily though) but are NOT cancerous. Have you had a colposcopy yet? I think I had my smear, abnormal cells with HPV then they found the cell changes to be CIN2 at a colposcopy. I then had to have a LLETZ procedure (basically loop excision of the cells) and since then all has been fine. I've had one smear with borderline changes since but at the follow up colposcopy they found all was ok.

Thanks for your reply, glad all was OK! There hasn't been any mention of a colposcopy it just says I need to have another smear test in a years time.
