IBS and Bleeding

I've been bleeding when I have a bowel movement. Usually it's just because I have wiped myself clean vigorously but a few times there's been quite a bit of blood.

I had IBS a few years ago and this was because I was on medication that made me constipated.

From time to time I still get a rumbling stomach and wind which is really embarrassing.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go to the doctors. Please tell me having a backside examination is not too bad. I feel nervous as a previous GP did a swab test and put the lube onto me instead of onto the speculum. I wish I'd reported the GP.

I have ibs and bleed too from little internal and external fissues from straining and wiping too much.
Do you think your bleeding is coming from deep up your rectum?
Or could it be from around the entrance?

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure where the bleeding is coming from when there is a lot of it.

I hope you don't mind me asking but did you go for any medical appointments? I'm booked in to see my GP and I'm dreading it.

Get yourself booked in with the gp , hopefully it will put your mind at ease at least
I was honestly really embarrassed too, I cancelled the appointment first time round.
My gp reassured me that mine isnt the only one she's looked it lol hopefully that makes you feel a little more comfortable, as your not the only one. Your gps probably done lots of examinations like this and I'm sure everyone feels awkward about it. Mine said these checks are quite common.

Are you still on that medication that's making you strain going to the toilet ?
Do you have any pain when passing a stool? In your stomach or around your bum?
Is it dark blood
Or a bright red blood?

My ibs alters between diarrhea and being constipated and I did spot blood once in the past for few days after a diarrhea episode. I spoke to gp on phone as they werent taking appointments at the time during lockdown and they said to monitor it for few days and phone back if it didnt settle, which it did stop. I assumed it must have been from the straining alright.
I never had it again until back in February I started medication (metformin) and it made my bowels go haywire for a few weeks I was passing what felt like alot of blood to be coming form there and felt like my insides were mangled so I phoned the gp . I had to go in for an examination. My gp just used a glove and felt around and inside. I had to get a numbing cream as mine was quite sore to touch . Then i think she said she used a gel . She said she could see visible fissures around my entrance and inside felt inflamed so that it was likely from being strained.. She thought my colon could likely be a bit inflamed from straining too and told me to temporarily decrease my dose to see if it made a difference and she prescribed me a hemorrhoid cream. I was supposed to come back in 1 weeks time if I was still bleeding but thankfully when I decreased my dose the diarrhea lessened and helped heal me up and the bleeding gradually eased.
If your straining it can cause little blood vessels to burst. Thankfully I do believe mine just needed to heal.
I've only had the bleeding once since( last Monday) but it's the same situation, straining and wiping is causing little tears. I have a visible little cut.
Bleeding doesn't always mean something serious, so don't stress yourself too much , but do make an appointment to at least ease your mind. I definitely think it's important to get it checked out anyway, as even serious matters are easier to treat when caught early. You don't want to keep put it off.
Tell your gp that your nervous and I'm sure they will try to make you feel more comfortable
