Completely black period

Hi, for my last 3 periods all of the period blood from start to finish has been black/very dark brown and grainy. I used to get a bit of dark brown blood at the end of my period but not the whole way through. Not sure if this is something I should be concerned about, just wondering if anyone had any experience of this or knows what could have caused this change?

It might be nothing. But as with anything if it’s new for you go get it checked out.

It can be a sign of infection if there's something stuck inside, an old tampon, for example. It might also be an indication of an STI. Likely to be one of the two if you've no other symptoms in general, but best to check with your GP to be on the safe side.
