Irregular period help

NauseousNancy · 28/09/2022 17:55

For the last year my periods have become a bit erratic.

I used to have a really regular cycle, started bleeding bang on 28 days each month. However, it’s changed now. More often my cycle seems to be 21 days, and heavier than usual.

however, every so often I’ll have one on ‘time’ but it’s always lighter.

any ideas what’s causing this? I just started on ‘time’ on Friday, all done by Monday, and started spotting again today.

Is there any history of thyroid issues in you family?
Hypothyroidism can cause these issues, along with a load of others, or are you peri menopausal age?

I’m 34, so would assume too young for peri menopause?

I don’t think any history - would there be any other symptoms?

Can you please update what the cause was ?

NauseousNancy · 30/01/2023 08:52

Hi! Unfortunately still nowhere further forward.

had my thyroid checked and it’s not that. Nurse said sometimes things just change - which I think is a bit of a cop out!

Have you had a smear test? X

KangarooKenny · 30/01/2023 15:58

Thats what happened in peri for me. Ended up anaemic.
So it does sound hormonal. When did your mum start the menopause ?

NauseousNancy · 30/01/2023 19:59

I’m up to date with my smears.

Mum was in her late 40s so I wouldn’t have expected it yet.

I’ve had another month early, one bang on time, and one late. When it’s early it’s light, when it’s late it’s heavy.
