NOT a UTI. What’s going on?!

Hello. For the past ten days I’ve had a constant urge to wee. I’m feeling the urge to go every 30 mins. Even if I’ve emptied my bladder and gone again wee still comes out. Especially at night when lying down. I had an appt with the GP who prescribed antibiotics and sent off a sample. Sample came back clear but I’m still going to finish the antibiotics. I just went for a private ultrasound where they said everything looks normal but I have a 1cm fibroid inside the uterus. And said I have a slightly bulky uterus. They also saw a cyst on the right ovary but said this was normal and would clear after my period. They couldn’t see anything that would impact the bladder and the bladder was functioning normally. I had an operation to remove larger fibroids about 18 Months ago. Can anyone shed any light on what could be causing this? It’s so annoying as I’m constantly needing to go and I can’t concentrate at work. Please help! Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Endometriosis of the bladder? I feel like this all the time but worse around my period, it mimics a water infection and took me years and countless rounds of unneeded antibiotics to understand what it actually was

Are you taking Vit C as this can create that feeling (taking ‘Ester C’ , or taking magnesium at the same time as Vit C can off set thus)

I have also had this from Ibuprofin.

Northernsoullover · 04/10/2022 16:52

Omg I could have written this myself. My bladder felt like it was burning at the top too. I had antibiotics but my sample was also clear. It has just resolved itself. I've self diagnosed interstitial cystitis (not really but it did seem to fit) if it comes back I'll be straight back to the GP.
I do wonder if it's something to do with menopause. I missed the progesterone tablets with my HRT and got a polite telling off from the GP so I also wonder if it is uterus/hormone related. I'm now on a combination patch.

Well mine disappeared after about ten days. I have no idea what caused it but my period is coming again soon so I don’t know if it will happen again. Will have to wait and see

Over active bladder? I had uti symptoms. After an scan by bladder was clear and no uti in urine culture.
Given anti spasmodic medication and I’m back to normal again. Had to take it for 2-3 months.

If you're menopausal it could be vaginal dryness. You can buy internal and external creams/gels which will cure it over the counter at any chemist. Vagisil is a good brand but boots do their own as well.

Sunny866 · 07/10/2022 14:52

I don’t think I’m menopausal. I’m 36 and have regular periods. Well I hope not anyway!

That’s interesting. I have a gp appt tomorrow for similar-recently started waking in the night for a wee and having to go several times in the morning.
seems to taper off over the day but I never feel quite right in my lower abdomen-always a bit tender and irritated.
had abs a month or so ago for what I assumed was a uti but it hasn’t really felt right since then.

Sunny866 · 10/10/2022 07:19

@Icecolder how did your appointment go?

I could also have written this! I usually have the bladder of a camel, even during pregnancy I can literally go all day without the need for a wee.
But last week my daughter woke me up in the night and I realised I needed to wee and it went from there. Constantly feel like I'm bursting even when I've just been. It's waking me up so I don't think it's anxiety. Stomach is massively bloated all the time too. Also been to doctor and sample was clear.

I also have this. Just on hold for the results of my urine test. I was advised to take over the counter cystitis meds which helped a bit but it hasn’t quite gone. It’s an odd sensation.

Bladder cancer can often be mistaken for a urinary tract infection, because many of the symptoms overlap. Patients may experience increased frequency of urination, urgency to urinate, pain with urination, or urinary incontinence.

Because it's easy to chalk up the symptoms to a stubborn UTI or normal vaginal spotting, bladder cancer may be overlooked in women, and they are often not diagnosed until their cancer has spread and it's harder to treat. So if you're worried, don't just write off your symptoms. A urogynecologist is the perfect type of doctor to determine if it's a minor infection or something more serious—and if it is bladder cancer, it's easier to treat if you catch it early.

Shelan1029 · 12/03/2023 03:29

How are you now? Any improvement?

BartokRules · 12/03/2023 09:02

I had this and it was due to endometriosis. Not seen in scans and only found by laparoscopy.

Sindonym · 12/03/2023 09:07

This is me today. Menopausal and wondering whether to start HRT. I thought I had actually reached menopause but over the last couple of months my body seems to be having a final shot at everything and am getting all sorts of hormonal symptoms

Came on suddenly so don’t think bladder cancer. Wondering about fibroids. But endometriosis could be a thing as well I guess.

Sunny866 · 12/03/2023 10:35

I had a scan yesterday. She said she couldn’t see anything that would be causing me to wee. She could see a small 2cm fibroid in the womb. Also I’m about 5 weeks pregnant! But I’ve been having the weeing problem since last July. She also said I have extreme adenomyosis which I had never heard of. My doctor did a referral to urology but with me now being pregnant I’m not sure they will be able to do much for me

@BartokRules did you have any improvement after the laporoscopy?
