Referral 2 weeks! So worried

So I saw my gp today and finally after months someone examined me. She said it looks like I have an ‘angry’ cervix called friable cervix, then said I’m going to refer you under the two week wait do you know what that means?! Well the rest of the conversation I’ve forgotten!

Has anyone been referred two week wait and it’s all been ok? Or if you had cervical cancer what were your symptoms please?

Beyond worried

I've been referred under the 2 week wait twice now. Most recently in September last year and all has been fine.

1st time it ended up being a cervical ectropian (2015)
This was lasered off very soon after. Simple in and out procedure.

A couple of smears later (Sept 2021) again had an angry looking cervix and was referred under 2WW. The red "angriness" turned out to be scar tissue from the laser removal several years prior.

The worst thing was the wait for the appointment, especially as this time around a the "2 week wait" became almost 4 due to covid backlogs. That time really dragged and felt like life was on hold.

It's a worry as your mind automatically jumps to worst case scenario and google doesn't help lessen anxiety. It's great that they're taking it seriously.

Best of luck OP, I hope everything works out ok for you.

Have you had any symptoms? Bleeding? Pain?

When was your last smear?

I had bleeding many years ago - was a raw patch on my cervix causing this. All good now.

Hi

Ive had bleeding in between periods for a while but gp didn’t seem concerned, I only went to see my go again, as I e been having bloating lots, weeing more and pelvic pain.

These were my symptoms too, as well as bleeding after sex.
There are lots of symptom overlaps between serious and non serious diagnosis but google only ever seems to bring up the bad ones. I remember googling first time around and it had me terrified. Fingers crossed it'll be something straightforward for you too.
