Prolactin raised- what now?

So I’ve had a blood test for all the gynae issues I’m having (none stop bleeding)
and one of the tests came back high- prolactin- at 650.

I have to have it repeated.
no one’s told me what happens if the next one is raised? And no one has explained anything other than 650 is “clinically insignificant” therefore needs repeating.

has anyone else had raised prolactin? What happened?

Thanks x

Yes. Though different symptoms in my case: no periods and milky discharge from breasts. Turned out to be a benign growth on the pituitary gland. Eminently treatable with pills, though i was glad I saw a specialist, as initially my GP gave me much too high a dose.

Did you have the MRI then? From
what I have read that’s what might be checked.

and from what I just checked on here, most people have no periods- I’m quite the opposite!

I am going on holiday which was a well needed break from my gynae issues! So I’m
panicking about that.

Yes, an MRI, I had endometriosis diagnosed a few years later; once the microprolactinoma was sorted my periods came back with a vengeance. So, short answer is, don't panic, and do persist: women's health is too often dismissed...

I am on a waiting list for a hysteroscopy test too, to see what on earth is going on with the bleeding, and my smear is due in spring, it’s been a long two years of back and forth to GPs and gynaecologists who just say “you’re fine!” But I don’t feel fine 😭

the prolactin things just almost topped me over the edge! Xx
