Flooding through a super plus tampon in less than 2 hours

I’ve noticed for the last six months, most of my periods have been much heavier than usual, but today takes the mickey.

I’ve flooded through a super tampon (orange) and soaked my underwear in less than 2 hours.

I had a pelvic ultrasound a year ago and a recent private one last month with a consultant AND saw a private gynae who did a smear and swabs - everything internally looks totally normal.

Anyone know why this could be happening? It’s very abnormal for me.

I do suffer with anxiety and stress but alway have!

@Diagnosticdigressions I can’t deny that using mooncups isn’t a messy event when you have heavy periods but tbh I was getting in a mess when I removed tampon(s) so it wasnt any worse than that! It does catch clots which can be a bit 🤢when they come out . My sister can’t stomach the thought of using a mooncup neither can my daughter but I will extol their virtues to anyone I can 😁😁

My periods were like this as a teen, I couldn't get through a double lesson of just over an hour without soaking through the fattest tampon and most of a pad.
Got a mooncup about when they came out and it was a total game changer, can't explain why but just a huge huge improvement. Would really recommend. Periods got even heavier when peri kicked in, no chair was safe, I'm on my third mirena coil and they've disappeared completely, hallelujah praise be, I do not miss them!

I’ve heard a lot about moon cups. Not sure why I haven’t thought about trying one, but I think I will.

Do they often leak? Would a pad be needed just in case?

I’ve been using one (not the same one!) for the last 5 or 6 years. I had to change the type I used post children. The quiz on the putacupinit website worked well for me, it recommended a Lunette cup and I’m happy with it. I do have to completely remove the stem though, otherwise it pokes.

I don’t find it leaks unless it’s completely full, unlike tampons which I used to find got overwhelmed by a sudden gush and couldn’t absorb it. I wear the period pants for backup, and I think it’s habit to double up now anyway, from 15-25 I couldn’t wear tampons without a pad as they always leaked.

I remember wearing a pad for the first few go arounds just in case, while I worked out the right positioning, but after that much less leakage than a tampon. Give it a whirl!

I just can’t for the life of me insert a mooncup, it’s the same with non applicator tampons. Sex is fine but if anything else goes near my vagina it just says no thanks 😂

I’ve had a vaginal birth and am in my 40’s so you’d think it’d be a doddle, but nothing is getting in there 🙈
