When Should I Ask GP To Investigate?

I’m a 50 year old woman and, following a pregnancy 3 years ago, my periods returned after 11 months. They were regular, if somewhat shorter/lighter than before the pregnancy, and this continued until sometime last autumn (so for 2 years).

Since then I’ve only had maybe 4 periods - August ‘21, November ‘21, January ‘22 and June ‘22. I do get some pre menstrual symptoms around the time that my period would be due (get low mood; become very stressed and irrationally angry towards trivial things; find it more difficult to deal with toddler tantrums etc) this then settles down without having a period.

When would people suggest going to see their GP to discuss menopause and how my mood and behaviour are affected and whether this is the start of menopause?
