Is there a hormone shift 4 months postpartum?

I was starting to feel better around 3 months postpartum, sleeping better etc apart from some issues with dry eyes and down below too. I have recently developed an itchy and tingly skin and scalp which is really annoying! I’m also feeling more anxious as it is effecting my sleep.

My baby is feeding more at night (bf) in last couple of weeks (4 month regression I imagine) and not sleeping well so wondered if this is contributing to me feeling more hormonal etc and itchy too. Liver and kidneys, thyroid etc all tested and are ok.

Feeling down and like I will feel itchy and tired forever 🙁 maybe it’s all in my head??

I think some theories say three months is the peak of their sleep in the first year, and it’s definitely true in my experience. So definitely not unusual for your little one as you say.

As for your hormones, I don’t know specifics but I know that generally the post partum period is an absolute rollercoaster. The itching does seem odd, are your medical professionals concerned at all? GP or HV? You definitely won’t feel tired forever. Still such early days, you’re still adapting.

I had this with my second child and also had the tests, all fine. Lots of moisturiser really helped with the itching

Thank you for the post. The gp says it might be tiredness or not moisturising dry skin well enough (didn’t seem concerned) but I am definitely moisturising lots and drinking well.

Thank you - how long did it last for you?
