Cerazette - did the side effects eventually settle?

I’m in my 10th week on cerazette and have got to a a point where I may have to stop due to the terrible side effects. The problem is I was put on it due to non stop menstrual bleeding (Im 9 months post baby). I had two normal periods after baby was born (formula feeding) then missed 3 cycles then bled non stop for over a month so the gynae doc put me on noristherone for a month as well as cerazette as a longer term solution. The norethisterone stopped the bleeding but I had a horrible flood like bleed when I came off for a few days? then it settled briefly and then I got spotting for a bit then two weeks later a scanty type period like bleed with cramps. That finally stopped for about 4/5 days and I felt almost normal which was amazing. I had a hysteroscopy (no obvious cause found) and then bled lightly again and have been bleeding ever since. I also have horrible headaches and am constantly exhausted and low. The gynaecologist had suggested I could change to the combined pill if the bleeding issues continued (Which I was on for years about 7 years ago with no issues) but I’ve had headaches that are most likely migraines with aura so I now can’t go on it. Ironically I never had any headaches on microgynon and have only had the aura type migraines since being on cerazette (apart from once during pregnancy). Im not sure I can take these side effects any more - I’m an emotional wreck but if I stop the nonstop period may come back (heavier than the bleeding I have now). Did anyone get lots of side effects with cerazette that eventually settled after you stuck it out?

Hi! I started bleeding between periods 1 year after my DD was born. Said I’d just had a smear 6m prior and as they now test for hpv it’s unlikely anything cervical is causing the bleeding, sent me to gynae who did transvaginal ultrasound which was normal and had an examination.
given the mini pill.
i bled every single day for 7 months.
Just been back to gynae.
my only option now is a coil.
dreading my next smear in spring, pretty sure it will be bad.
ive just stopped the pill as I’ve had enough. Still bleeding after a week of stopping it, it’s heavier.
Waiting for my coil appointment could be a while though.

did they do any tests on you?
I wonder why I haven’t had a colposcopy to check that, but I’ve been told due to being hpv negative 2.5 years ago, they doubt it’s cervical. X

Sorry just read about the hysteroscopy. They are doing one of those at my coil fitting.

I've been on cerazatte for 14 years aside from my two pregnancies (both planned, conceived first month, back on cerazette within 6 weeks of birth). I've never had a period while on it, and had a week or two of spotting when I first started taking it.

I understand that about 10% of women will share my experience and unfortunately about 10% will share what you're describing.

I think it's back to the doctors for you I'm afraid. There must be other options.

No advice I'm afraid but I'm in the same position as you. Had lots of bleeding between periods for ages, can't take combined pill due to migraines. I've been on mini pill (desogesterel) for nearly 3 weeks now. So far I've had on/off spotting, sore breasts, huge breakout of acne and mood swings. I'm really hoping it settles.

Apparently my only other option is a coil but I really don't want one of those. My GP was very unconcerned by the bleeding, she said it's extremely common and although I've been referred for an ultrasound she said there probably won't be anything amiss.

I'm in a similar position. On desogestrel due to severely heavy periods which made me ill.
I haven't had any spotting but the mini pill really does give me very low moods. I'd say I'm finally starting to feel a little better with that now, but it's taken 18 months. I spoke to the nurse about it last time and she said to give it 6 months and I do feel slightly better but I know I'm still way more snappy/grumpy than I was before.
I also had no problem with microgynon but I can't have it now due to occasionally having a high BP reading.

I bled most of the time on that pill too so stopped taking it (we were about to start TTC too)

I do have an ectropion which I think was there then and that was irritated by the hormones.

I'd stop taking it and go back to the doc as it's not working for you.

I feel for you. I thought this problem Was really rare and I’ve been convinced I’ve got something deadly wrong with me for the last 2.5 years. I couldn’t take any more after 7 months of the pill. I really hoped it would work for me xx
