Coming off Provera Tablets

I’m not sure if I’m going a bit mad.. I was prescribed Provera to stop a period on holiday recently. Worked really well, minimal side effects & it was 38/39 degrees on holiday, so thankgod I could just sit in the pool! I stopped the pills the day we flew home, 6 days ago now and dear god, I feel
a complete mess. My moods are manic, I keep crying over the smallest thing, I’m snappy & have zero patience with my children. I swing from energetic & able to do a great workout to sitting on the sofa crying that I can’t face life. I feel wrecked. My period stared a couple days after stopping the pills but it’s been the lightest period of my life. Usually they are very heavy. So that’s a bit weird as well.

Is this just the hormones?! How long do they take to settle down?! I was expecting side effects on the pills but wasn’t expecting much coming off them, I thought things would steady to normal quite quickly..!

Hi I know this is late but I had the same experience. A buzz akin to late pregnancy during my 14 days of 10mg provera, followed by a crash akin to baby blues during the 14 day break from it. It was awful! You're not going mad.

Glad to know it wasn’t just me. I felt like effects of provera lasted for weeks, like my hormones couldn’t sort themselves back out afterwards!

I’ve just used it again for this years holiday & had a very different experience 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was moody as hell while taking it (I wasn’t at all last time) but my mood is totally fine now I’ve stopped. I have however had a 2 day migraine & vomiting coming off them .. I still feel pretty dire although the severe headache is now gone.

If I need to stop my period again, I might try see if there is something else!
