What do I do if I suspect a prolapse?

I’m almost 5 weeks pp with my second (and last) baby.

I’ve been feeling a bit of discomfort and had a look down below in the mirror. The initial swelling seems to have gone but I think I have a prolapse.

I’m guessing bowel because sometimes I need to put pressure near my perineum to get a poo out.

I also have some stress incontinence (although that isn’t new)

Should I make a GP appointment to look at this? I’m not being seen until 8 weeks PP (they’re combining 6 week check and first jabs) will they want me to wait until that appointment?

If it’s relevant I had a EMCS so not expecting them to look down below unless I mention it.

Does anyone have any experience they can share?

IME they will shrug and tell you to do pelvic floor exercises by downloading the squeeze app.
Definitely ask them to have a look when you go for your check up, and be prepared to be pushy if you want follow up or physio.

@bumpertobumper this is what I was afraid of. I’ve already got the Squeezy app but have never been able to squeeze as long as it tells me to

I've not had that particular issue but have been to a women's health physio (private) and it was brilliant.
Will be going again post baby #2 later this year.

@Geranium1984 yeah I think that’s probably my best bet. There’s one near me that does a “mummy MOT” for pelvic floor and abs

Self refer to a pelvic physio. Very helpful and will check your pelvic floors as be helpful you do the exercises properly.
