Breast Calcification - advice re biopsy results

Worriedandwaiting · 16/08/2022 18:05

A recent mammogram showed microcalcification in one of my breasts and I’ve just had a biopsy and been given a date two weeks off to attend the clinic for my results. Please can anyone who has been in this situation tell me, if your results were benign did you still have to attend the appointment or were you notified in advance of your results and not have to go? Thanks, the wait is tense isn’t it?

Hi @Worriedandwaiting how did you get on? My friend is in a similiar situation to you - had a biopsy and has been given an appointment for next friday. Shes terrified its bad news.

I had this a couple of years ago. I had to wait for the appointment to get the results but everything was fine. I was told to have a mammogram in a years time which I did and was also clear.
I was very worried as I lost my mum to breast cancer but apparently it's very common and usually nothing to worry about. They were also very reassuring that if there was anything sinister they would catch it really early and deal with it, although thank goodness that wasn't the case.

It's really common. I have some but I have also had breast cancer. Mine are just monitored on a yearly basis. I did ask why they didn't remove them and surgeon said they were not cancerous so no need.

I've just realised the post was from August. I wish I'd seen it sooner, I could have offered reassurance . Hope all is well with you OP.

i appreciate your reassurances @TheFormidableMrsCand @Undergroundovergroundwomblingfree even though this is a slightly old thread!
To my huge relief the results were clear and the breast cancer nurse was kind enough to ring me as soon as they were available so I didn’t need to be anxious any longer than was necessary.
I really hope your friend gets similarly good news @bootswiththefur - and it’s highly likely she will as I was told there’s something like 80% of people called back for further tests are given the all clear. Not that the knowledge stops us from imagining the worst while we’re actually waiting of course.

How old were you ? I am waiting to be called to do a biopsy. I am really scared.

Did you have any pain under your arm? I would really like to speak to someone.
