Lump under armpit

summersun222 · 14/08/2022 20:46

I'm so worried - found a lump a couple of months ago under my armpit - didn't call GP until recently and they referred me to get checked over

I didn't because I was pregnant and figured they couldn't treat me even if something sunister

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone was or has been in same position and turned out all ok

I know I can't get diagnosed on here I just feel ever so worried

The lump is around the size of a kidney bean
Not sure if it feels hard or soft it's kind of almost a bit squishy - unsure if it's 'moveable' like I've researched online

It's painless and I'm 3 weeks post partum

Can't shake off the feeling and have bad anxiety over it x

Go and get checked over

Definitely get checked. I had this years ago. The lump I felt was the size of a golf ball and turned out to be a benign cyst. When they removed it, it was the size of a grapefruit!

I have I'm awaiting a referral - GP said it will be 2 wks but then thinking have to wait for app time
Thinking may call the private hospital to see how much quicker it is

Just had a baby and feel sick with worry and can't enjoy this time 😞

I found a lump under my armpit when I was about 35 weeks pregnant, it was pea sized and sounds similar in firmness and was painless. I had an ultrasound when I was 3 weeks postpartum and they found that it was just auxiliary Breast tissue, so absolutely nothing to worry about. So glad I got it checked though. Really hope yours is just the same.
For anyone reading this down the line please get lumps checked even if pregnant. In my trust if your under 30 the two week wait period doesn't apply, so if I'd waited until after giving birth to contact the GP then it would have been quite a significant length of time between finding the lump and getting an ultrasound.

I'm older than you now OP, but had a similar lump in my 20s under my arm. Hard and painless, but if I poked it enough (which I did in my state of worry) it would hurt. It was taken out, biopsied and turned out to be extra breast tissue. Try not to worry. Most lumps aren't anything sinister, but definitely get checked out.

@Dryshampooandcoffee @MrsMigginsCat thank you for sharing - I do wish I went sooner but we are here now and I really hope I have the same outcome. The worry has been horrid. I just figured they wouldn't scan me as I had a similar issue with my bladder in pregnancy and they wouldn't see me until after pregnancy

Thank you x
