Second period is late after coming off pill

I was on the combined pill for around 8 years but came off it a few months ago due to health reasons and decided to use condoms instead. My partner and I have had sex a few times since, always with condoms.

My pre-pill cycle was around 28-29 days and my first proper period after coming off the pill came right on time, which surprised me. However my second period is now 2-3 days late, which is worrying me slightly. I took a test to be sure this morning and it was negative, and I’ve had some slight cramping over the past few days, a lot in my back, and (unusually for me) very sensitive and painful nipples. My libido has also increased a lot which usually happens well before my period.

I’m just wondering if anyone has had this happen? I’d not be concerned if my previous period was late/irregular but for it to come right on time and then this one to be late is slightly puzzling me.

It could just be that your cycle is now slightly longer. I'd wait until you're a week late then test again.

It can take a while for your body to regulate after stopping the pill. I had 6 months with no period last time! Like PP says, wait a week and test again. If it’s negative, it may just be a waiting game (but obviously talk to your doctor if you’re concerned!)

The pill actually leaves your system very quickly after taking the last tablet.

I would not read too much into this currently unless the cycle starts to consistently lengthen.
