Cervical fibroid experience

So I'm just doing a little bit of self diagnosing, which as we all know it's a very healthy thing to do, whilst I'm waiting for my GP appointment.
I've been experiencing spotting for the last two weeks. It's not my period and I'm getting really concerned. So far all the GP has done for me is a swab and I am waiting the results.
I am 31 years old, I have a five and two-year-old. I thought that perhaps this might just be a bit of a hormonal imbalance, but it's been going on for two weeks now. I don't really have any symptoms although I do remember one day in this fortnight period I had a really bad backache and fidgety soar legs. I've never really experienced that before. It has subsided now however.
Anyway, on my journey of self diagnosing I have come to the conclusion that I think I might have fibroids. I'm aware that this may well not be the case but I'm just trying to put my mind at ease as I'm really worried and the doctors won't speak to me until Thursday. At this point I'm going to ask for blood tests and a scan. I just wondered if anyone could share their experience of fibroids? As I said I know I may well not have this for I'm just worried in from what I've read online I'm thinking that this might be the cause of the spotting!

if the Dr took swabs DP did they also check your womb by inserting their fingers then pressing on your tummy a few times?

I didn’t have any spotting with my fibroids, just horrendously painful & heavy periods.

Tbh they're no bother, extremely common, and don't kill you, so i wouldn't be too worried about it being fibroids.
I'll caveat that with obviously for some women they cause serious issues. But most they're asymptomatic or 'minor' issues (such as heavy periods). They can grow/shrink over time.
Spotting could be lots of things eh. Push for more tests if the swab doesn't tell you anything. Once you know what it is you can deal with it.
Presume you're not pregnant?

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 01/08/2022 18:55

I didn't know I had them until I got pregnant. Then it was absolute agony. One of them was bigger than the baby for the majority of the pregnancy. Didn't affect my second pregnancy though.

They're still there, but other than heavy periods I don't think they cause any issues in normal day to day life. I've always had heavy periods though so they might not have anything to do with the fibroids.

Forgot to say I'm sure the doctor told me a lot of issues depend on whether they're inside or outside of the womb. Mine are pedunculated (on a stalk).

I have fibroids - one a monster at the top of my uterus, the other (sort of tangerine sized) is by my cervix. I have had no spotting at all but heavy, long and flooding periods. No pain, no restless legs. They were diagnosed by scan, not swab.

I know it's hard, and I say this as someone who thanks to Google was already pretty convinced it was fibroids before my GP referred me for a scan, please step away from Dr Internet. There is little use in worrying about 1,000 things it may be. Focus on getting the answers

Ahhh thanks all for the replies! Perhaps I don't. Have fibroids.... I suppose I won't know until the doctor takes some action!
Just feeling so worried as this has never happened to me before :(

Spotting can be so many things OP, I really wouldn't try to self diagnose on this one! I had similar, after sex, which got worse every time until the point I was bleeding heavily for over a week after sex. And not like period bleeding, but literally just blood. GP referred me to gynae, who diagnosed and treated cervical ectropion. Also sent me for an ultrasound, which I'm waiting for the results of, but I haven't had any more bleeding since the treatment so presumably that was all the issue was.
