Mini pill and bleeding

I’ve been taking the mini/progesterone only pill (Cerelle) for about 6 weeks now, and I’ve been bleeding for most of that time! It’s very annoying. In all other ways this pill really suits me (skin is fine, no bloating, mood is fine…)

It looks to me like all the newer mini pills contain the exact same active ingredient, so if this one is making me bleed, will all the other brands make me bleed too, or is it worth trying others?

i took a mini pill about 15 years ago and had no bleeding and no periods. I was hoping for that again! I don’t know which one that one was unfortunately.

Hey !

I started this pill last week after having a baby . Cannot take the combined pill due to headaches. I’ve been bleeding now for 10 days straight ! Going to going the GP on Monday it’s ridiculous. . So I know how you feel !

Could you not phone your GP and ask them to check , it should be in your records ? . I’ve seen a few ladies mention that Cerelle is awful for them
but Cerezette is fine ? Even though like you say it’s the same ?!

Took months for it to stop with me
Last time I gave up as just got sick of waiting for it to stop

starlilly88 · 06/08/2022 14:01

Took months for the bleeding to stop and settle. Now I have no spotting at all so give it time

daphne890 · 07/08/2022 11:19

Can I ask how long after stopping it the bleeding stopped? Thanks

daphne890 · 07/08/2022 11:20

Sorry that was for @fedup078

fedup078 · 07/08/2022 12:03

@daphne890 I don't remember it taking very long

I bled for 3 months every day on the minipill.

Went back to condoms!!

I’m about 7 weeks in to taking it, and have been bleeding for at least 5 of those weeks. Bleeding stopped 2 days ago, but I’m sure it’ll be back! I’ll keep going with it for 3 months though I think to see if it gets any better.

i was the same, I lasted nearly 12 weeks until I called it quits......ironically it was prescribed to help stop heavy bleeding 🤔

GCAcademic · 09/08/2022 15:19

I had bleeding virtually every day for five months. I tolerated that because it was light, and on balance preferable to very heavy periods lasting two weeks (the reason why I started taking the mini pill, while I'm waiting for a hysterectomy). After five months, I then had an episode of the worst flooding and hugest clots I've ever experienced to the point that I called 111 and they sent a paramedic out. I was literally flooding onto the carpet through my mooncup, heavy duty pad and clothes every fifteen minutes. After a night of that, the bleeding then stopped for several weeks, and then I had an endometrial biopsy last week and it's started up again, but I'm hoping it's the biopsy rather than the pill that's causing it.

I had this too, for a few months actually....it wasn't constant but at least 2 weeks out of each month I was having some level of bleeding. It did stop eventually but it wasn't quick.

Weirdly for me it happened on Cerazette but stopped when I was switched to Cerelle, even though they are supposedly exactly the same.
