I have thrush and oh my gosh the itch, the pain. It started this morning but I have been unable to get out the house with baby and DH in work until early hours. I’ve used a big of vagasil I found under the sink but it’s not doing anything. Any recommendations until tomorrow morning when I can go to boots

My sympathies!!!! Do you have any live yoghurt? I was advised to eat that and also wipe it on!
If not - a cool ish bath/ shower?
A flannel in damp water to soothe?

McConkeysPlate · 29/07/2022 20:22

Cold wet flannel in your knickers? Make sure DH get treatment too. Me and my other half played thrush tag for a few months as he was rubbish at using the cream 🤦🏼‍♀️

NintyNine2 · 29/07/2022 20:36

Ahhh just got the flannel now…the relief! I have no yoghurt ☹️
@McConkeysPlate Oh yes will have to get DH treated too

@NintyNine2 i hope it clears up quickly! Supermarkets sell canestan if you can get there this evening x

Afterfire · 29/07/2022 20:48

Vagisil won’t do anything. You need Canestan - either the pessary or internal cream with the external cream and / or Fluconazole 150mg tablet. Can you get to a pharmacy tonight?

Afterfire · 29/07/2022 20:49

Tesco or Morrisons usually have Canestan.

mynameischloe · 29/07/2022 20:59

Can you get your DH to get you some one the way home? Is there a 24 hour supermarket near by? You poor thing.

NintyNine2 · 29/07/2022 21:19

Kids are in bed now so I’m not able to get there now. I could ask DH but im hoping I’ll be asleep by the time he gets home, which will be about 3am.
i think I’d rather give birth than have this. I had it years ago and forgot how bad it is

When this nightmare has ended.. I recommend using miyoni vaginal suppositories.
I use a one a night for 1-3 nights after I've had a period. This prevents B.V. Occurring and I don't get yeast infections anymore either.
I order them online - they are about 10 pounds for 30 capsules. They are fantastic! It's boric acid. Don't worry - they are safe to use in your vagina and have been a life saver for me. Xxx

bluefrog11 · 30/07/2022 00:12

I buy fluconozole tablets in packs of 3 from an online pharmacy, it’s about £7. Then I always know I have then available if needed. That combined with clotrimazole cream (canesten) should do the trick.

longer term strategies which work for me are cutting down sugar, taking probiotics (you can get ones aimed at thrush) and apple cider vinegar in the bath water. White wine sets thrush off for me and too many grapes! It’s taken me twenty years to get a handle on thrush 🙈

Boredofmyself · 30/07/2022 08:12

Miiyoni do the suppositories 40 for £13.99 but you can get them from siaderma for a tenner for 30 and free delivery.

Boredofmyself · 30/07/2022 08:13

30 not 40 sorry

Bollindger · 30/07/2022 08:21

Use a shower hose on a low speed and wash yourself out , I did it 3 times in one day, all better the next day.

NintyNine2 · 30/07/2022 16:24

thanks for all the advice. I managed to get the pessary which I used this morning, still really itchy and stinging when I have a wee. Im on my period which is making it worse. I sent dh out for some of the relief canestan cream. It feels slightly better but This is torture. Any idea how long before it starts to get better

If it's stinging while you pee I would get some cystitis relief sachets as well. To be honest I've only ever used the pessary at night as it's meant to help that you're laying down and letting it work inside you without gravity/peeing it out. Hopefully you feel better soon Flowers

NintyNine2 · 30/07/2022 16:54

I think the stinging is because I’ve made it sore scratching soo much 😩 I’ve spend nearlY £.30 on thrush creams today lol hoping for some relief soon

OP posts:
mrsfoof · 30/07/2022 17:01

I'm not sure the pessary will work too well if you're on your period as it will probably get flushed out too quickly in your flow. It works best if you pop it in and stay lying down for a while (overnight is best) to allow it to dissolve and do its thing 'up there'.

loopylindi · 30/07/2022 17:34

Try putting some bicarb in water, stir and apply this with a ball of cotton wool. if you squeeze most of the solution out you may be able to 'tuck it in' to maintain contact. Then, try to get hold of some pure borax and put a teasp of that in 2pts of hot water. Tip it into a bowl and sit with your bits soaking for upwards of 5 minutes. Don't rinse. Go commando for a while. Good luck

loopylindi · 30/07/2022 17:36

Posted too soon. Use a cotton ball soaked in this solution after every pee. It'll remove the trace of urine and help stop the stinging

NintyNine2 · 30/07/2022 21:00

Thank you so much for all the tips and advice. It’s feeling a tiny bit better so hopefully it will just get better from here

Definitely don't do this.

NintyNine2 · 30/07/2022 23:20

I’m really upset. It’s so sore and itchy and uncomfortable. I don’t know what else I can do.

OP posts:
Gnr24 · 30/07/2022 23:28

Go to the chemist first thing and get fluconozole tablets, it's the only thing that works for me , I swear it'll be cleared up within 24 hours.

NintyNine2 · 30/07/2022 23:31

Thanks @Gnr24 i was just reading about them on line. Will definitely go to the pharmacist tomorrow for them. It’s torture

Gnr24 · 30/07/2022 23:35

I feel for you , thrush is definitely some kind of torture. These tablets are great and have worked within 6-8 hrs for me , I always have at least one in the house , after my latest bout was the worst ever.
