Provera to delay period

Anyone have experience of taking Provera (still breastfeeding my 16 mo DD) to delay a period?

GP was on the fence about whether it is ok to take.

Also - any side effects?

There was a recent thread on this, consensus was the side effects were awful and many regretted taking it.

what are the common side effects, cliffdiver? I'm on Provera for <reasons> & haven't noticed any side effects.

The thread is in Women's Health and Period delay tablets? Do they work?

Apologies, I'm on the app, and don't know how to link to a thread.

I took it recently, no side effects other than slight bloating and quite anxious and sweaty the day before my period actually came but that could just be down to other life stress. I only delayed for about 4 days though.

I feel a bit guilty as I’m still BF.

I’m also wondering now whether it would be too late to take it. Period feels like it’s going to arrive early. Can you still take it literally just before or once it starts? Does that help?

I’ve read that noresthiserone can have hideous side effects but I’ve been prescribed Provera as apparently there’s a supply problem with the former.

I was prescribed norethisterone to delay my period for my holiday this summer, worked perfectly with no side effects and I'm breastfeeding my 8 month old, no issues with supply or anything.

Thanks @littledinokitty
