New, more accurate than mammogram, blood test for breast cancer

Article in womens health - 96% accuracy - 89% for stage 1 breast cancer (the ones that mammograms barely pick up)

I am 100% doing this (apparently being offered by 'the London clinic') rather than squashing my boobs into a mammogram machine.

I've been avoiding going as I HATE my breasts being touched Sad

I think a lot of private tests have that sort of disclaimer. I did a different kind of medical test recently but bought it privately instead of NHS. It had the same disclaimer whilst also providing sensitivity and specificity data.

@LaurieFairyCake Any news on costs or availability?

CallMeKaty · 01/08/2022 14:01

@LaurieFairyCake Just wondering- did you ever get a reply from The London Clinic on this?

LaurieFairyCake · 01/08/2022 16:05

Unfortunately no reply yet - bet they've had hundreds of enquiries

If you genuinely want to have this, best to call them @LaurieFairyCake Or call the makes of Trucheck and ask where it's available.

It's very unusual for a private hospital not to reply as they could do a group /blind copy email to everyone. Or put it on the Breast part of their website - and it's not there.

My understanding of the feature was it's only being offered to women already seeing a consultant and are part of a trial. The fact it can be used instead of a mammogram doesn't mean it's available yet.
