C section - bleeding stopped and then returned.

I had a c section 8 weeks ago, all seems to have healed fine and bleeding stopped after 3-4 weeks I think. However I then started bleeding again which I thought was my period returning, despite breastfeeding, and this has been going on for the past 2-3 weeks. Some days there’s pretty much no blood, other times I’m changing my sanitary towel 3 to 4 times a day. It’s not particularly heavy, no large clots etc but doesn’t seem to be easing up. I didn’t mention to my GP at the 6 week check that my period has returned / I’m bleeding again but he didn’t seem concerned.

I just wondered if anyone has experienced the same?

Mine definitely stopped and started for weeks. I think I remember reading it can be a blood clot stuck in your cervix which then shifts and the bleeding restarts. Hope you feel better soon.

I’d get it checked out. Post birth bleeding should be finished by now.

Ah reassuring to read someone else has experienced the same. I don’t have period pains, cramps or any type of pain with the bleeding to be honest. It’s just annoying! Did you get yours checked out?

Thank you, I may have to call the doctors and ask for an appointment. Although I did read online you can bleed for 12 weeks so I don’t want to waste anyones time!

I would get it checked just to be sure but I did have bleeding on and off for the first few months. I remember worrying if it was normal and did mention it to the GP. All was fine in the end.

I've had 4 c sections and bled on and off for about 6 weeks after each of them. See your GP if you're concerned though. I knew when the bleeding had turned to a period because it went heavy and I had the familiar pains.

Did the doctor do any sort of physical check when you mentioned it? Months sounds like a very long time!

I guess the longer it goes on the more concerned I’m getting. The bleeding is heavier some days than others but I wouldn’t describe it as heavy as such.

Ive contacted the GP, no appointments for today so I will try again in the morning.

Yes, but I have never heard of it stopping for weeks and then coming back? For all mine it was a gradual less bleeding until it stopped. It didn’t stop completely for weeks and then start up again.
