MN hive mind. I had an endometrioma removed, endometriosis treated, my left ovarian tube removed and a fibroid removed on Thursday all laparoscopically. I'm just about coping with the post op pains, wind is largely dealt with. My issue is no BM as yet even with taking dulcoease. Any hints / tips to bring a BM on? I'm moving around every hour and stopped taking cocodamol / dyhydrocodeine yesterday after being discharged. Been spacing out my paracetamol and ibuprofen. Eating as well as I can and having plenty fluids including water, diluting juice and peppermint tea. I've got a poop stool to raise my feet up and been doing the mindful relaxed breathing 😮‍💨 I have the sensation that I need to go but then after shuffling to the loo, nothing comes!

Thank you in advance wise MN for any helpful suggestions ❤️

Dulcolax.

Dulcolease is a stool softener rather than a laxative.
I’ve mixed them up before now and taken ‘lax instead of ‘ease. Believe me, it will work really well to shift the constipation, although it’s still early days. The morphine from the op causes constipation, as does codeine, then the not moving around doesn’t help.

Can someone pop to a Sunday opening pharmacy for Dulcolax today? Or the supermarket for syrup of figs or something?

Wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers

I very recently had an abdominal hysterectomy, I had surgery on tuesday and did not have a BM until late on Saturday. I wouldn’t worry about it yet, it can take days for the bowel to function properly again after surgery.

@SoS505 thank you 🤦‍♀️ can't believe I got them mixed up. DH has been to boots today for supplies along with haemorrhoid cream as I've managed to do that now too 😩 the pharmacist also gave him a box of suppositories in case they are needed too.

@AGreatUsername thank you for letting me know how long it took for your BM to return.

I've been chugging prune juice today along with making sure I go for a shuffle round every hour to keep movement up. Still getting the sensation of needing to go then nada, trying not to get worked up but it's hard! I've also found having a rolled up hand towel braced against my op sites helps take away the worry that I'm going to do an Alien impression of my innards bursting out of me.

9 days post op and feeling a bit more like myself. Minor bump in the road as have a UTI but got antibiotics for that. I found buscopan an absolute life saver too for stopping the feeling of needing to go then nothing happening. Can't wait till Thursday night so I can ditch the support stockings especially in this heat 🥵
