Looking for some advice from anyone who has experienced prolapse. I'm unfortunately that I have a prolapse of the rectum, uterus and bladder. I'm under 40 and I have been to many GP & hospital appointments over the last 8 years. Finally I am getting somewhere with a video consultation following a urodynamics test several months ago with surgery options.

However over the last 4 weeks I've experienced so much discomfort. Swollen & bloating, unable to pass stool, bleeding (occasionally) and feeling very uncomfortable below. My skin feels red raw and it feels and looks like the rectocele is ready to protrude. Unsure if I should see a GP and if anything can be done to help sort things sooner or if it's a waiting game? I'm struggling with the constant bloating and stomach ache every day, my skin is very tender below and red raw.

Would appreciate any advice, I have nobody to talk to about this and it's affecting me in so many ways.

Sorry, OP. That sounds awful. Un-mumsnetty hugs to you.

Can you afford to go private?

0hCrumbs · 09/07/2022 21:55

Thank you. Unfortunately private isn't an option, I think I will make an appointment for the GP and hope I am seen face to face. I've had occasional bleeding and I suppose I'm concerned how swollen and big everything down/in there feels and worried there's maybe more going on Sad

Yes I would get back in touch with your GP and explain things have escalated and worsened and you need to be seen/fast tracked asap.

You absolutely need to go to your GP and get treatment. You poor thing. I would also go and see a specialist women's health physio.

There's a Facebook support group for prolapse and they are really kind.
Sarah Smith dirty strength is a great woman in your situation and now weight lifts etc without issue.
pelvic flicks by Jeanice is also great.
There's a UK unuresis doctor with some great info too, would that be helpful?
There is life after pro and you can get better with diet changes and hormone reviews.

I can understand how you are feeling to some extent as I am also suffering from symptoms of prolapse since last three months. The GP sent for a private appointment which did not come so I decided to see a Gynaecologist in a private hospital. She advised me to seek help from a physiotherapist who deals with Pelvic Floor issues.I have been doing pelvic floor exercises since two months now but honestly it hasn't helped me with anything.I have to take Lactolose at night and inspire of that am not able to clear my bowels. The gynaecologist has recommended a visit to colorectal specialist.
What I have done is this - I have increased water intake at least 1500 ml a day, eat fibre rich food- chia seeds, prunes, dried dates, figs, raisins, pears, apples, celery, broccoli.
The gynaecologist advised using Vagifem but am not too sure if I should insert it vaginally due to the fact that my mum passed away because of womb cancer.I used it initially for a week or ten days, it did help me with soreness though.
I have now bought Replense on Amazon which claims to help with Vaginal dryness. Will see if it helps.
I too am fed up of struggle everyday to pass urine and stool. But have to keep trying things...
Just want to let you know I am sending you my wishes for finding some relief.

Im not sure if im posting this in the right place so i hope i am. Im 29 and have Cystocele and rectocele that’s is literally popping out of my vagina. I wee myself constantly, have to push the rectocele back and manually evacuate through the back wall of my vagina to go.
i have no sensation at all during sex now other than pain and pressure and not much bladder control during at all. Im a nurse and constantly on my feet. The pain and pressure honestly is making me miserable and I’m absolutely mortified this is happening.
I have tried EVERYTHING after so much research and if I’m honest I’ve absolutely had enough and just want surgery. I can’t carry on, but how likely are they to proceed to surgery without trying pessaries first? I see the surgeon the beginning of January and can’t bear the thought I’ll be advised months of exercises

Sorry to hear about your situation, Merrington. I also have a rectocele and a cystocele. Have you tired hypopressive breathing exercises? After a couple of months of doing them I had quite a lot of improvement. I’ve just had a ring peasary fitted, and surprisingly that helps too. Before I had that I was using a contam pessary that I bought myself, which also helped. I’m self managing the ring pessary, and so far I’m taking it out every night and putting it back in in the morning, I feel better with it in. I use a Quofora mini irrigation system to empty my bowels, prescribed by my GP. Have you considered taking time off work? I’ve also just signed up for Lauren O’Hayon’s restore your core exercise program, it looks really good so far. I know from experience how stressful this all is, but I’m feeling so much better now than I was a few months ago. There’s a really good Facebook group.
