No urge to pass urine after c section

Hello :)
I had an emergency c section in June done under epidural and am having problems with passing urine. After they took my catheter out in hospital I went into urine retention later that day and had over a litre in my bladder! So they put a catheter back in and kept it in for 12 hours, took it out again. I didn’t go into retention again but since the c section have had absolutely no urge to pass urine. I’m only going because I’ve got timers on my phone to remind me!! Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue? I’ve been referred to physio by the midwives but they don’t have any appointments until the end of august!

I had this after a vaginal birth, they thought my bladder was bruised. It took at least 2 months to resolve - like you, I had to set timers on my phone to remind myself to go.

I had this, after emergency c section. I think they damaged the nerves in my lower belly as the whole area was (and still is) quite numb.

:( did you do anything to help with the recovery process?

I had this too, it got better on its own and I think I was largely back to normal about 9 months down the line. It was quite strange though, it took me a while to realise I hadn't needed to go, as I went at intervals just out of habit.

It took me about six weeks to regain the mind-body connection and feel that urge to pee again. Not allowing yourself to go too long will help, bizarrely - set a timer if you need to. A woman I know still had a catheter at ten weeks pp, so I think issues are more normal that we realise.
