High Leukocytes (white blood cells) in urine

Hi everyone

I’ve just taken a urine dip test and it’s showing very high leukocytes but no nitrite. I have done two throughout today mid stream and both have the same result. I’m not pregnant and no other UTI symptoms. Is this something to be concerned about?

If it is a test at the GPs they should repeat it around 8 weeks to 3 months later. Only if there is an issue on a repeat test especially you have other signs and symptoms is it of concern.

Hi OP,how did this turn out? Same thing with me...waiting to hear back from gp

I’ve had this before.

I had an embedded UTI. Took ABs for 3 months.

am also borderline for Interstitial cystitis which another consultant calls mast cell activation syndrome- mast cells in high concentration in bladder which react to histamine

Had you any other symptoms? I was tested as kidney function test came back slightly down in routine bloods

Mine always shows that and blood too. Nothing actually wrong. So long as the lab tests are clear a dip test really is just an indicator.

Sorry one other thought.
endometriosis- could that be something you are affected by?
I had endometriosis affecting the ureters and this can affect kidney function if it gets bad.

my symptoms are (still have it although had major operation to remove stage 4 endo including ureolysis - where surgeon frees the ureters) - pain with urine in bladder, incomplete emptying, sudden need to go, sharp pain with urination. Also flank pain with full bladder (this has stopped after the endometriosis excision surgery/ureolysis)

have lots of symptoms with the mast cell activation syndrome- eg reactions to high histamine foods, increase in heart rate, disordered breathing.

hope tHis helps
